Q & A

Fantasy tips and tricks: Shuold I pick more bowlers, batsmen or all-rounders?

If the previous contest here between Delhi and Punjab was an aberration, where in the latter side was bowled out for 115 in their 20 overs, the Brabourne stadium can be expected to be dish out yet another high-scoring contest between Bangalore and Hyderabad on Saturday night. The venue has short boundaries which makes getting runs quicker and easier, aided by a flat track which has not broken down to start supporting the spinners yet. Fast bowlers and in-form batsmen should form the majority of the fantasy cricket playing XI for this match.

Fantasy tips: From which team should I pick more players in my XI? Which team is stronger?

It will be a tough question to answer as far as picking one among the second placed Bangalore and fifth ranked Hyderabad is concerned. Both the teams have shown their strengths and weaknesses so far but they have also displayed incredible determination and discipline to pull off favourable results in face of adversities. Hyderabad have been particularly impressive with the way they have bounced back after a couple of defeats at the start of the tournament to record 4 consecutive victories. On the other hand, Bangalore continue to impress with their depth and the style of cricket that they have played so far in the competition. A right mix of players from both the teams should constitute the fantasy cricket playing XI.

MORE INFORMATION: Bangalore will be wary of the fact that Hyderabad have won their last 4 matches by big margins and should be looking to keep their big guns and check. Kane Williamson has been an impressive captain for Hyderabad side whereas Faf du Plessis has done an incredible job as well in his first season as the leader of the Bangalore camp.

PLAYERS’ FORM: The former Bangalore captain V Kohlii seems to be struggling on all fronts as far as rain making is concerned. After making an impressive match-winning 48 against Mumbai, V Kohlii has recorded figures of 1, 12 and 0 in the last three outings for Bangalore. On the other hand, the likes of Shahbaz Ahmed and Dinesh Karthik who bat much lower in the order, have consistently scored runs for their side. On their part, Hyderabad would be pleased that they have started to perform as a unit and should be looking to continue with their all-round display of innovative cricket. All eyes will be once again on the young speed gun in Imran Malik who has made the world sit up and take notice of him with his searing pace and aggressive bowling in the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022.

Second-placed Bangalore wary of revitalised Hyderabad

Bangalore will be wary of the fact that Hyderabad not only have a four match winning streak coming into the contest number 36 of the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022, but have also dominated the bilateral affairs between the two teams. Out of the 20 matches that Bangalore and Hyderabad have played, the former have lost 11 while recording only eight victories so far.

Bangalore, however, draw a lot of confidence from the fact that it is them who are placed at the second spot in the points table for the Indian T20 Cricket League 2022 and not Hyderabad, who still have a lot to do in order to break into the top four teams that will get into the play-offs round.

Faf du Plessis scored superb 96 for Bangalore in their last match against Lucknow, helping his team to record an 18 run victory at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. But Bangalore will be concerned with the form of their former captain V Kohlii, who has scored a total of 13 runs including a first ball duck in his last three outings.

The Bangalore side can be benefited immensely if they push one among Shabaz Ahmad or Dinesh Karthik one or two spots above their usual batting positions as the two batsmen have been getting a lot of runs that too in a rapid manner. The senior Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been in red hot form of late and Bangalore can do well by promoting him up so that he gets as many balls possible to face.

In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood has added a lot of depth and sting to the Bangalore attack. In the last two matches for the team which has been in chase of its maiden title in the competition for the last many years, Josh Hazlewood had returned with three wicket hauls to propel himself as one of the most important players in the team.

On their part, Hyderabad will look to keep their approach simple and concentrate on their skills — something that has worked tremendously for them in the last four matches. The young speed gun in Imran Malik has been very impressive whereas T Natarajan has taken wickets consistently for the 2016 title winners.

Kane Williamson has been able to find support in other batsmen such as Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram with the West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicolas Pooran also coming good on the last few occasions with the bat.
