Barbados Royals (BR) take on Jamaica Tallawahs (JAM) in match 10 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021. Raymon Reifer excelled with bat and ball as Barbados Royals defeated Jamaica Tallawahs by 15 runs in the opening fixture between both sides. It was also the Barbados-based franchise’s first win in the new season.
Reifer and Barbados Royals’ overseas players lived up to their billing in the victory over Jamaica Tallawahs. Glenn Phillips’ 56* and Reifer’s quickfire 31* steered them to 161/5 in 20 overs. Mohammad Amir and Thisara Perera picked up two wickets each, but it was Reifer who did most of the damage with the wickets of Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, and Kennar Lewis.
After posting a mammoth 255 in their first match, the Jamaica Tallawahs batting line-up failed to chase down 161 against Barbados Royals. The top-order, including captain Rovman Powell, were back in the dressing room before the end of the powerplay. Shamarh Brooks and Brathwaite offered a fight with a 66-run stand. Earlier in the match, Veerasammy Permaul, the left-arm spinner, finished with figures of 2/15 in his four overs.
