After a disappointing start to the new season, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and Barbados Royals (BR) will be eyeing two points when they face each other in match 4 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021.
A batting collapse led to Trinbago Knight Riders’ defeat against Guyana Amazon Warriors in the tournament opener. Chasing 143 to win, they lost wickets at regular intervals. Denesh Ramdin’s 28 and an unbeaten 22 by Akeal Hosein helped them reduce the margin of defeat. The defending champions would be keen to improve their bowling at death as they conceded 54 runs in the last five overs.
Barbados Royals let slip an early advantage and had to settle for a defeat in their opening match. A brilliant spell from Oshane Thomas left St Kitts & Nevis Patriots reeling at 39/4. But they recovered to post 175/5, scoring 68 runs off the final five overs. Apart from Shai Hope’s 44 and a late blitz from Azam Khan, the rest of their batters struggled, and they fell to a 21-run defeat.
