They took the lead through Breel Embolo after the 24-year-old headed home from Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner. He could have had an assist, too, after setting up substitute Mario Gavranovic. But the 84th-minute strike was deemed offside by video assistant referees. The Swiss back three, led by Newcastle United’s Fabian Schar, will be hoping to produce a perfect performance against Italy.
