One of the most successful batsmen and captains in the Indian T20 League, Australia's David Warner, who had suffered a humiliating exit from Team Hyderabad last year, found a new home on Saturday afternoon in Team Delhi.
The franchise picked up the Indian T20 League’s most successful overseas batsman (in terms of runs scored) for a price of ₹6.25 crores during the mega auction ahead of the 2022 edition.
Having led Hyderabad to a title victory in Indian T20 league 2016 and scaled unprecedented heights as a leader as well as a player for the team, Warner was removed as their captain in the first half of the Indian T20 League last year.
When the tournament resumed in the UAE a few months later, he supported the team from the stands in most of the games ― not even from the dugout ― waving their team flag as one of the reserve players after he was tossed out from the playing XI in one of the most shocking moves.
Along with holding many individual records and feats, Warner has scored most runs for Team Hyderabad with a second best performance coming for Team Delhi, to whom he will be returning from Indian T20 League 2022 edition onwards.
