Indian T20 League 2022: Rummy Bo Top Fantasy XI

By Parameswaran Sankaranarayanan May 30, 2022

An exciting Indian T20 League season came to a close at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. The 2022 edition brought plenty of surprises. First-timers Gujarat and Lucknow were outstanding, former champions Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai failed to reach the top four, and a host of uncapped players - Umran Malik, Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, Rajat Patidar, Mukesh Choudhary, Mohsin Khan, etc., - grabbed the limelight.

From Orange Cap winner Jos Buttler to dashing opening batsman Shubman Gill, here's the Rummy Bo top fantasy XI in the Indian T20 League 2022 season.

J Buttler (1270 Pts)

After a torrid time in Australia, Jos Buttler let his bat do the talking in the world's best T20 cricket league. The wicket-keeper batter became the first Englishman to win the Orange Cap and just the second player to score four centuries in an Indian T20 League season. Is there a more deadly batter in T20 cricket now?

K L Rahul - 915 Pts

New season, new franchise - but it was the same old K L Rahul. It was another memorable campaign with the bat for the Lucknow captain. He finished second in the batting charts and became the first Indian to score more than 500 runs in five successive seasons in Indian T20 League.

H Pandya - 908 Pts

Hardik Pandya is well and truly back. He thrived under pressure, leading Gujarat to the title and winning a place in the Indian team for the T20 series against South Africa. The former Mumbai player was Gujarat's leading run-scorer and took eight wickets at an economy rate of 7.27.

A Russell - 904 Pts

With 17 wickets and 335 runs, Andre Russell was arguably the best all-rounder in the tournament. The 34-year-old, who had scored a 31-ball 70* and grabbed 4/5 this season, was one of two players to pick up more than 900 fantasy points in the league stage.

Q de Kock - 821 Pts

Quinton de Kock's stellar knock of 140* - the third-highest individual score in the Indian T20 League - is among the most memorable batting performances in the 2022 edition. He finished the campaign with 508 runs and is the only player to register more than 200 fantasy points in a match in the tournament.

W Hasaranga - 820 Pts

Wanindu Hasaranga was unlucky to miss out on the Purple Cap. But the Bangalore fans will be delighted with the contributions of the leg-spinner after he failed to make an impact last year. The Galle-born cricketer has picked up at least one wicket in 14 of the 16 six matches this season.

L Livingstone - 814 Pts

Liam Livingstone, the hard-hitting Englishman, replicated his England form in the Indian T20 League 15th edition. The batting all-rounder collected 75+ fantasy points on six occasions. Also, with 34 sixes, he finished runners-up in the most sixes chart.

S Samson - 797 Pts

It was a successful outing for Sanju Samson as a captain. However, with the bat, the 27-year-old struck just two fifties and fell short of last season's tally by 26 runs. Samson topped the most dismissals chart in the 2022 edition - 14 catches and two stumpings.

Y Chahal - 772 Pts

Yuzvendra Chahal had a point to prove after being not picked in the 2021 20-over World Cup squad and released by Bangalore ahead of the mega auction. The Rajasthan leg-spinner bagged 27 wickets and won the Purple Cap. He also achieved a rare feat - a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in the same match.

R Khan - 729 Pts

Gujarat spinner Rashid Khan had another excellent Indian T20 League campaign. The 23-year-old made a match-winning 40 against Chennai, went past 100 wickets, clinched his first four-wicket haul in the league, and bowled economically in the playoffs.

S Gill - 704 Pts

Opening batter Shubman Gill began his campaign with two half-centuries in the first three games. The youngster struggled for runs in the next few matches. However, he found his form in the second half of the tournament - half-centuries against Mumbai and Lucknow. It was Gill who hit the winning runs for Gujarat in the final.
