On a hot and humid evening in Navi Mumbai, Quinton de Kock wreaked havoc. The wicket-keeper batter, much to the delight of fantasy cricket players, smashed ten sixes and as many fours as he made an unbeaten 140 off 70 just balls against Kolkata. He also became the first player to rack up more than 200 fantasy points in a match in the 15th edition.
A costly drop
The match could have panned out differently for De Kock and his team if debutant Abhijeet Tomar had held on to a regulation catch at third man in the third over of the match. The 29-year-old made the most of the drop catch to register the third-highest individual score in the history of the Indian T20 League.
Plethora of records
De Kock and his opening partner K L Rahul combined to break plenty of records on Wednesday.
- The 210* stand between De Kock and Rahul is the highest partnership for an opening wicket in Indian T20 League
- It was the first time a team batted the entire 20 overs in Indian T20 League without a losing wicket
- 140* is the highest score by a South African in Indian T20 League
- Rahul became the first Indian player to score 500+ in five consecutive Indian T20 League seasons
210 fantasy points
Andre Russell, Mitchell Marsh, Jasprit Bumrah, etc., have come close to picking up 200 fantasy points in a match this season. But with 186 batting points and 20 fielding points, De Kock became the first player to cross the 200-mark this season. It also helped him take his overall fantasy points tally to 811 in the ongoing season.
