Bad weather forced Manchester Originals (MNR) and Southern Brave (SOB) to settle for a point at Old Trafford cricket ground in match 19 of the Hundred. The home side, batting first, had reached 98/3 in 71 balls before the rain halted the proceedings for the third time. The weather showed no signs of improvement, and the umpires called off the match.
Earlier in the evening, Southern Brave had won the toss and decided to bowl first. The start of the match, reduced to 90-balls per side, was delayed by 45 minutes. The Southern Brave bowlers struck twice in the powerplay as Tymal Mills removed Joe Clarke for 10, while Chris Jordan, who conceded a hat-trick of fours in his first set of five, sent the other opener Phil Salt back to the pavilion. The rain returned, and players hurried back to the dressing room.
The weather improved quickly, but the match further reduced to 85-balls per side. Colin Ackermann fell for 11, with Manchester Originals 54/3 in 42 balls. New Zealand batsman Colin Munro hit a four off Jake Lintott and scored 13 runs in Jordan’s second set of five. He and debutant Sam Hain put together 44 for the fourth wicket. However, it started raining again. A few minutes later, the umpires decided to abandon the match.
We take a look at the latest points table and stats from the 100-ball tournament.
