Led by England all-rounder Moeen Ali, Birmingham Phoenix, which will play its home matches at Edgbaston Stadium, has some world-class players at their disposal. Apart from their captain, veteran spinner Imran Tahir and England pacer Chris Woakes are the two other most experienced players in their squad.
The presence of Adam Milne and Benny Howell further bolsters the franchise’s bowling attack. The Kiwi pacer has picked up six wickets in three matches in the ongoing Vitality Blast. Meanwhile, all-rounder Howell has claimed 14 wickets and also hit two half-centuries in the T20 tournament so far.
Liam Livingstone and Finn Allen are the central figures in Birmingham Phoenix’s batting department. Both players have been amongst runs as Livingstone made a 43-ball 103 against Pakistan, and Allen has scored 399 runs at a strike rate of 159 in the Vitality Blast so far. Also, uncapped Tom Abell and Daniel Bell-Drummond would be hoping to impress with the bat.
The franchise would most probably be without Woakes and Dom Sibley after their first three matches in the tournament. Both players are likely to be included in the England squad for the five-match Test series against India, beginning on August 4.
