Manchester Originals are one of the strong contenders to win the first edition of The Hundred. The Old Trafford-based side has the perfect blend of youth and experience in all their departments. Jos Buttler is the marquee player in the squad, while Colin Munro and Carlos Brathwaite are the key overseas signings.
Steven Finn, Lockie Ferguson, who took a hat-trick in the Vitality Blast recently, and Ollie Robinson are the three frontline pacers. Left-arm pacer Fred Klaassen and Jamie Overton, too, could play an important role. Meanwhile, Matt Parkinson, Colin Ackermann, and Tom Hartley are the spin options.
Manchester Originals’ batting department will be relying on their explosive pair of Munro and Buttler. Both players are in excellent form lately. The Kiwi opener registered 90* and 88* in the Pakistan Super League, while the Englishman has struck back-to-back half-centuries in his last two T20 outings.
The franchise also has quality uncapped batters in their squad. Opener Joe Clarke had hit a stunning 136 against Northamptonshire in the Vitality Blast. He has a strike rate of 193 and has hit 21 sixes in the T20 tournament so far. Warwickshire’s Sam Hain, too, is a proven player in the shortest format of the game. He has amassed 393 runs from 12 innings and is Birmingham Bears’ top run-scorer in the Vitality Blast.
