Northern Superchargers do not boast of a title-winning squad but have assembled an exciting bunch of players. Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Ben Stokes are the star attractions in a 16-member team, which also includes white-ball specialists Chris Lynn, Adil Rashid, David Willey, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
With Stokes having fitness concerns and unavailable for the second phase of the tournament, Northern Superchargers will be relying on its England internationals and the overseas players. Left-arm pacer Willey bagged plenty of wickets in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Rashid, too, has been in impressive form lately as he grabbed nine wickets in his last five T20 matches.
Northern Superchargers skipper Du Plessis was in stellar form in the Indian T20 2021. He struck four consecutive half-centuries for Chennai Super Kings, while Mujeeb has ten wickets in six outings in the ongoing Vitality Blast. The third overseas player Lynn, meanwhile, hasn’t played competitive cricket since his lone appearance – 49 against Royal Challengers Bangalore – in Indian T20 2021.
Yorkshire’s Harry Brook is an exciting prospect in the Northern Superchargers’ squad. The 22-year-old has amassed 485 runs at a strike rate of 150 in the Vitality Blast. Brydon Carse, too, will be keen to continue his good run of form. He clinched a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in the ODI series. Also, there will be expectations from 33-year-old Adam Lyth, who has plenty of T20 experience under his belt.
