Trent Rockets is one of the most exciting teams to watch out for in The Hundred. The franchise, which will play its home matches at the Trent Bridge stadium, boasts several T20 specialists in their 17-member squad.
Alex Hales, the marquee domestic player, is expected to grab plenty of headlines. He had struck a hundred against Lancashire in the ongoing Vitality Blast. Overseas batsman D’Arcy Short and veteran all-rounder Samit Patel, too, are having a decent outing in the T20 tournament in England. Joe Root and journeyman T20 player Luke Wright are the two other prominent batters in the squad.
After churning out impressive performances in Vitality Blast and against Pakistan, Lewis Gregory will be keen to extend it in the 100-ball tournament. He has quality players alongside as Rashid Khan will lead the spin department, while Samit, Wahab Riaz, etc., bring plenty of experience. Pacer Sam Cook and off-spinner Matthew Carter are two players to keep an eye on. The duo combined bagged 36 wickets in the Vitality Blast.
Trent Rockets will be without Riaz for the opening few matches, and former South Africa fast bowler Marchant de Lange has replaced the 36-year-old. Also, Joe Root is only available for the first two fixtures as he will join the England team, which will play five Test matches against India, starting on August 4.
