Southern Brave (SOB) and Trent Rockets (TRT) will face each other at The Oval for a place in the final of the Hundred. With five wins in their last six games, Southern Brave finished second in the points table. They are unbeaten since suffering a defeat at the hands of Welsh Fire in their second game.
A seven-wicket victory over Manchester Originals sealed Trent Rockets’ place in the eliminator. They crushed Southern Brave by nine wickets in the only meeting between both sides in the tournament. Though, the Trent Rockets batsmen endured a frustrating time in the lone outing at The Oval. Chasing a modest 125, they lost eight wickets and fell short by nine runs. D’Arcy Short, Dawid Malan, and Tom Moores fell for single-digit scores.
Team News
Tim David has replaced Colin de Grandhomme in the Southern Brave roster. The tall all-rounder has left to join the New Zealand squad for the five-match T20I series in Bangladesh. David, who is a like-for-like replacement for Grandhomme, is likely to be in the playing eleven tonight. He has scored a match-winning hundred and took two wickets for Surrey in the Royal London One-Day Cup recently.
Southern Brave pacer Craig Overton, who was with the England squad for the Test series against India, has been made available for the eliminator, and the final, if they qualify. But Southern Brave is likely to field the same playing eleven that beat Oval Invincibles by six wickets.
Trent Rockets, too, will be unlikely to tinker with their squad. They might stick with Malan and Alex Hales as the opening duo. Marchant de Lange had picked up a five-wicket haul against Southern Brave, while Malan and Short registered half-centuries. Rashid Khan and Samit Patel will be keen to continue their impressive performances.
The Oval pitch has assisted the bowlers better in the tournament so far. No team has managed to reach 150 in the four games played at The Oval. Trent Rockets all-rounder Patel has picked up two wickets against Oval Invincibles at the ground.
