‘Hitman’ leading from the front

R Sharma is the only player to feature in all 12 games since the defeat against New Zealand in Dubai. Under his leadership, India clinched ruthless victories over New Zealand, West Indies, and Sri Lanka at home and helped the ‘Men in Blue’ climb to No 1 in the T20I rankings. The ‘Hitman’ excelled with the bat as he hit two half-centuries against New Zealand.

Suryakumar Yadav & Shreyas Iyer put on a show

Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer are engaged in a fierce battle for a spot in the middle-order. Both Mumbai-born batters have been prolific in the shortest format of the game. Suryakumar bagged the player of the series award against West Indies, while Iyer scored half-centuries in all three matches against Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid has a good selection headache ahead of the South Africa series in June.

The debutants impress

Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Hooda, and Avesh Khan made their international bows during the 12-game winning streak. All-rounder Iyer and pacer Patel produced a string of impressive performances and are likely to extend their stay in the T20I squad. Meanwhile, Bishnoi, Avesh, and Hooda made key contributions when presented with opportunities.
