The former West Indies captain Jason Holder, who was dumped from the team’s leadership role following an ordinary showing in the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England, was picked up by Team Lucknow for a whopping price of ₹8.75 crores in the Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction held in Bangalore on Saturday.
In the past, the lanky West Indies all-rounder had played for Hyderabad, dazzling with both bat and the ball for them lower in the order and providing many impactful performances in the Indian T20 League 2021 edition.
Holder thoroughly deserved the price that he was offered by the Lucknow during the mega auction on Saturday, given that he has been one of the best all-rounders across formats for the Caribbean side, specially at a time when the team is consistently unable to find its standing and feet.
The former West Indies captain once again proved his worth in the ODI series against India recently when he scored a vital 57 in the first match to resurrect his side from batting collapse, and in the third game, he returned with a superb four-wicket haul while the others struggled.
Apart from Hyderabad, Holder has also played for Chennai and Kolkata in the past in the world’s biggest T20 league.
