With 800 wickets, he also held the record for the most dismissals in Test cricket. His consistency in wicket-taking, precision, and control was astounding.
He significantly contributed to Sri Lanka's victories in international cricket, including the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
In 350 games, he has taken 534 wickets at an economy rate of just 3.93 and an average of 23.08. Along with Pakistan's Wasim Akram, Muralitharan is one of only two bowlers in ODI cricket history to have more than 500 wickets.
