After a successful 2021 campaign, Chennai will be eyeing Mumbai’s record of five titles in the upcoming Indian T20 League season. The franchise, who hold a 60% win percentage in the tournament, retained their skipper MS Dhonii, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali, and the dashing opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the mega auction. They managed to re-sign Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, Robin Uthappa, etc., and also added Chris Jordan, Devon Conway, Maheesh Theekshana, etc., during the mega event.
Chennai will begin their campaign against Kolkata on March 26 in a rematch of the last season’s final. They are scheduled to play eight out of their 14 matches in DY Patil Stadium and Wankhede Stadium. Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gujarat, Mumbai, and Punjab are the five franchises that will play two games against Chennai this season. The four-time winners lock horns with Rajasthan in their final league stage fixture.
